RIVER CITY ROVERS TAKE ON FOREST CITY LONDON
London, Ontario/Canada—The River City Rovers, Louisville’s PDL men’s outdoor soccer team, met with the Forest City London team for the first time tonight at London’s Marconi Field. The two teams finished the first half with Forest City ahead by 3 goals.
The Rovers returned in the second half with a goal by Sam Brooks on a penalty kick. Coach Dale Helfrich reported, “With only 14 players able to make this Canadian trip, the Rovers had to fight hard to keep the ball in our control. The guys did a great job under these conditions.”
As a home opener for Forest City London, the attendance was estimated at 1,200 fans.
The game concluded with a final score of 5-1, Forest City.
The Rovers return to Louisville, June 6th. The next home game is scheduled for Saturday, June 11th against the Cincinnati Kings at Centurion Soccer Field, 700 S. English Station Road. A full schedule of home and away games can be found at www.roverssoccer.com.
