6/3/11--Rovers travel to MI for re-match with the Bucks.
MICHIGAN BUCKS DENY RIVER CITY ROVERS WIN
Walled Lake Central, MI—June 3, 2011, The River City Rovers, Louisville’s PDL men’s outdoor soccer team, saw a number of turns in tonight’s game against the highly competitive Michigan Bucks. The temperature was a perfect 70 degrees for the fast-paced match, the second played between the two teams. Each team fired shots within the first 12 minutes of the game—Rovers 3, the Bucks 4.
The Rovers took a number of physical hits in the first half, with a tackle on Albert Edwards (defense) during a breakaway and a tackle on Ace Gonya (forward), with no yellow cards being drawn, much to the Rovers’ outrage. At the half, the Rovers were down 5-0.
With a change up in the roster at the second half, the Rovers took control of the game. Players Matt Soyka, Jeff McClure, Kyamran Tairov, George Laventis, and Alex Winrich stepped in and dominated the flow of play, but could not alter the final score of Bucks 5, Rovers 0.
The Rovers will continue their road trip onto Toronto for their next game with the Forest City London, June 5th. The full schedule of home and away games can be found at www.roverssoccer.com.
