RIVER CITY ROVERS CONTAIN INDIANA INVADERS TO A 1-1 DRAW

Louisville, KY—The River City Rovers men’s outdoor soccer team of Louisville held the Indiana Invaders to a tied score of 1-1 in last night’s game at Centurion Soccer Field.

With overcast skies and a humid temperature in the high 80’s, the teams battled hard during the entire 90-minute match.  Rovers’ were said to dominate the first quarter of the game. Invader #19, defensive Kerel Bradford, took a bad spill at the 17-minute mark, causing a 5-minute delay on field. Rovers’ #30, keeper Matt Soyka, got tremendous height in a leaping save from a corner kick at the 42nd, only to be overshadowed by Indiana’s midfielder, Adam Mena, who scored a goal in the 45th.

The second half delivered even more excitement when Invader #4, Tom Morris, fouled Rover Ryan Smith, who was in a break-away that promised a clear shot on goal. The spill sent Smith sliding across the grass at least 15 ft. just in front of the Indiana goalie at the 69th minute. Refs granted Rovers a free kick and Albert Edward, # 18, scored the Rovers’ tying goal for the night.

The Rovers’ next home game is Monday, July 4th at 7pm against the Canada’s Forest City London at Centurion Soccer Field (Christian Academy at 700 S. English Station Road, Louisville.) A full schedule of home and away games can be found at www.roverssoccer.com.
