RIVER CITY ROVERS MATCH THE MIGHT OF FOREST CITY LONDON
July 4, 2011 Louisville, KY—The River City Rovers men’s outdoor soccer team tied Forest City London 1-1 in last night’s July 4th game at Centurion Soccer Field. Forest City is currently in 3rd place in the Great Lakes PDL Conference.
“The game was exciting and fast-paced,” said Rovers Executive Director, Pete Laventis. “Forest City really had to contend with a tight defense tonight.” The first half was dominated by Rovers defensemen Albert Edward & Hezekiah Weiss, with Edward scoring in the 23rd minute.
All other shots on goal were effectively blocked by London’s GK, Bolaji (Toba) Oloruntoba.
The second half saw similar action. A yellow card issued to Rovers #25, Aaron Dini, resulted in a penalty kick for Forest City. While the kick was stopped by the Rovers, the ensuing play gained momentum and ended in a goal by FC’s #10, Dino Ceric.
The Rovers’ last home game is Saturday, July 16th at 7pm against the Cincinnati Kings at Centurion Soccer Field (Christian Academy at 700 S. English Station Road, Louisville.) A full schedule of home and away games can be found at www.roverssoccer.com.
